Print Screen with Mac Keyboard in Windows XP

Problem: The Print Screen button doesn't work because the keycodes are different even if the position of the other keys works fine.

Solution:
  1. Download KeyTweak
  2. Run
  3. Click Tools -> Half Teach Mode (or click the button if you can find it)
  4. Click Scan a Single Key
  5. Press F13 which corresponds to the Windows keyboard Print Screen key
  6. Select Print Screen from the list
  7. Click Remap
See using-apple-keyboard-with-windows-wired.html for more configuration options.

You are king, I searched google and found a bunch of idiots saying a bunch of crap about bandaid solutions, this program works wonderfully. Thanks for a good solution.

I probably followed the same trail of bandaids. Thanks twice!

I have a new Mac keyboard on my PC at work. I can't stand that I can't take a screenshot via a keyboard command. Though I've just found that you can use the PC Start menu to access an On-Screen Keyboard to access the Print Screen key. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On-Screen Keyboard.

Cheers

I tried the program and when I followed your instructions... guess what I got a runtime error :-). Thank you!! this is exactly what I had expected given all of the other dumb solutions to a seemingly simple problem.

Beware though, when you hit apply it restarts your computer. It warns you but I wasn't paying attention and just hit OK, the very thing i was trying to screenshot was lost... my bad though

Fantastic! The Start >All Programs >Accessories >Accessibility >On-Screen Keyboard tip worked a treat!

For those that wonder why anyone would be using a Mac keyboard on a PC in the first place, here's why I do. In developing websites and testing them across platforms I use a KVM to switch between Macs & PCs using just one keyboard, monitor & mouse.

Thanks again!

This does not seem to work for me. Error msg as follows:

"could not remove scancode map from registry. The system returned the following message: Access Denied"

Please advise.
Thanks,
J.

You probably need to run KeyTweak as an administrator. (Right Click -> Run as Administrator).
